Oil on stretched canvas, 12" x 9"
Maggie has a trademark pose, it seems, of curling her left paw under while stretched out and relaxing in her family's home. I think she feels confident of herself and her place in life and that shows in her portrait. This was such a nice commissioned piece to complete

Ribbon and Red Oil Painting Still Life Ornament Art Christmas Holidays
Oil on hardboard, 6" x 6"
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone it's time for Christmas decorations! I painted one of my red bulbs neslted in some ribbon with accents in sparkly gold tones. Painting the shiny roundness of the ornament was the most fun in this piece.

Magnolia and China Oil Painting Still Life Flower Art
Oil on Raymar panel 8" x 6"
It's not actually a Thanksgiving theme because spring Magnolia blooms are in the painting, but I wanted to repost the painting because it included a piece of my mother's china which was always used at Thanksgiving and Christmas too. I saw that the color of the Magnolia blooms were echoed in the china and that was the hook for me to paint this still life.

Resting at Stone Bridge Oil Painting Figurative Landscape Palette Knife Art Autumn Trees Forest
Oil on canvas, 14" x 11"
While hiking at Mt. Nebo state park in Arkansas recently, I captured a really nice composition of another hiker on a stone bridge with my camera. The lighting was fantastic. The basic forms were easy to read and I loved that. I kept it loose and used a palette knife for most of the painting, and I decided that the figure should be integrated into the woodland setting which would be best for the painting overall. And by the way, just for the record, the resting hiker was my husband.

Saluki Portait Oil Painting Dog Art Pet Portrait
Watercolor on Arches, 2.5" x 3.5"
I enjoyed painting ACEO's because I learned how to include the needed detail and drama in such a small format. This was one of my favorites.

Wet Autumn Oil Painting Landscape Art Autumn Trees Forest Woodlands
Oil on hardboard, 7" x 9"
This was one of several interesting forest "still lifes" that I composed with my camera on a recent hike. In this one, rocks and tree limbs are surrounded by a very shallow creek filled with fallen colorful leaves. It was an attempt to capture the feeling of the place with its intense coloring and movements of shapes. Only in a few places could I see the reflection of the blue sky above.

Another One Oil Painting Jack Russell Dog Art Pet Portrait Water
Oil on stretched canvas, 6" x 8" x 3/4".
One of my favorite commissions from the past was this J.R.Terrier retrieving his ball in his family's pool. These wild and crazy Jack Russells usually love the water. And I've found from experience that they will do pretty much whatever they like, and they think they are smarter than their people in some families. But they are so darn cute and sweet!. What can one do?!
