Watercolor on Arches, 7.5" x 10.5".

This bonsai-looking tree is growing gracefully from rocks in Mt. Magazine State park.  It catches the interest of hikers and photographers who admire its form.  I added my own interpretation of it.

I was intrigued by this composition of a tangle of trees in winter. The snow and vegetation are alternately lit by the sun and cast in deep shadow. The sky coming through the bare trees was also colorful.

Yay for old-fashioned Peonies! Our painting class has been arranging and painting flowers recently. Some dramatic dark peonies were paired with pink ones in the arrangement I chose. These were a great starting point before painting the white ones I painted at a later date.
