Sundown Sunflower Oil Painting Garden Floral Art

"Sundown"

Oil on canvas, 10" x 8" x 3/4"

Large sunflower heads have unique characters and they strike lovely poses even when they are past their prime and begin to fade. The stalk of this sunflower was bent and its head appeared too heavy for it. The last of its golden and brown petals hung loosely. Sunflowers are always inspiring if I take the time to look.
The stapled-in-back 3/4" sides of the canvas are painted so the painting can be hung unframed if desired.

Red Filly Horse Oil Painting Western Ranch Arabian Art

"Red Filly"

Oil on canvas, 10" x 8" x 3/4"

An expressive face on a beautiful young filly - so much fun to paint! I've been painting and drawing horses from a very early age and it still fascinates me. In the summer their coats gleam in the sunshine and this defines their structures more clearly. After painting several human portraits recently, horses and donkeys seem like a breeze for me to portray!
The stapled-in-back 3/4" sides of the canvas are painted so the painting can be hung unframed if desired.

Orchard Peach Halves Study Oil Painting Fruit Still Life

"Orchard Peach Halves Study"

Oil on canvas board, 6" x 8".

I had so many peaches that I just had to paint them! My neighbor and her children pick peaches every summer at a local orchard here in Arkansas and she had a wonderful gift bag for me. I decided I'd like to do a large painting of them after doing some smaller studies. This study is my first, but looking back, I think I may have added too many colors to the shadows. I still love the "peachiness" of their unique shapes and colors.

Bigfoot Cat Oil Painting Pet Art Animals

"Bigfoot"

Oil on canvas, 8" x 10".

Cats and vague or mysterious backgrounds just seem right together. This guy has some really large white paws and he usually extends them as a half-hearted attempt to ward off his admirers' loving but restricting embraces. All of the proud and independent felines out there understand this very well! The painting is on staple-free canvas and can be hung unframed if desired.

African Violets Oil Painting Botanical Flower Still-Life

"African Violets"

Oil on stretched canvas, 8" x 6" x 3/4".

My African violets were in full bloom and reaching for the sunlight in this painting. These plants have wavy leaves that glow with warm reddish shades when lit by the sun. Their violet flowers with little yellow centers compliment the leaves well I think. I intended to keep this piece more painterly and concentrated on the shapes and values.
The 3/4" sides are painted a dark brown making framing optional.

Deep Red Beauty Oil Painting Rose Flowers Floral Art

"Deep Red Beauty"

Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, 8" x 6" x 3/4".

This is a portrait of a long-stemmed rose that I painted for Valentine's Day. I loved painting the shapes of the deep red petals in the sunlight and the mixtures of soft greens which I devoloped in the background.
The painting is on gallery-wrap canvas and is ready to hang with or without a frame.

Oranges Naturally Oil Painting Citrus Fruit Tree Plants

"Oranges, Naturally"

Oil on canvas, 10" x 8" x 3/4".

Oranges on the tree with sunlight bouncing among the leaves and making the oranges glow at the same time - it's a favorite image of mine, even though I don't live far enough south to have them growing in my yard. For many years I received a large box of these Texas oranges in time for Christmas from my relatives who lived near Brownsville. The canvas has a painted, staple-free edge and can be hung unframed if desired.
