Daschsund with Sweater

Oil Pet Art Portraits Dogs Dachshund Holloween Costumes

Oil on Raymar panel, 8 x 6".

A cute daschsund was getting a lot of attention wearing her "Halloween" sweater at a busy fall festival here in my area. She was pleased to pose for me and my camera.

Pine Overlook

Oil Landscape Forest Mountain Rocks Trees

Oil on canvas board, 10" x 8".

This small landscape is a painting of a rocky overlook in the Ozark mountains near where I live in Arkansas. The number of jogging paths in the wilderness here are endless and I hope I can enjoy most of them eventually. There were just a few trees turning colorful in the trees below
the overlook. The fall air is crisp and I love it on a sunny day!

Yellow Pepper in Bowl

Oil Still Life Garden Vegetable Kitchen

Oil on stretched canvas, 7" x 9".

A large yellow pepper looked attractive in this chunky, green-rimmed bowl. Like many artists, I enjoy painting white objects as they reflect surrounding colors and pieces of light.

Jane Magnolia 3

Watercolor Flower Trees Still Life Saucer Botanical Garden

Watercolor on paper, 8" x 6".

I've reduced the prices on some of my watercolors and this Jane Magnolia bloom is one in a series of three that I painted. This one is my favorite with the cluster of green buds squeezed together and the red/purple petals opening in all directions. With this series you can collect one, two or all three.

Hydrangeas in Glass

Oil Flowers Glass Vase Still Life Botanical Garden

Oil on stretched canvas, 14" x 11" x 3/4".

I cut some fluffy, bushy blooms from my hydrangeas and painted them in a vase with bright light from a window. The blooms start as green and turn a creamy yellow with blue edging, and they end as a lovely blue and white color. I wish I could have these flowers growing all around my house but they only thrive on the north side where they are shaded most of the time. The staple-free sides are painted so that the painting can be hung unframed if desired.

Yellow Dutch Iris

Watercolor Flowers Still Life Botanical Bulbs

Watercolor on Arches watercolor paper, 8" x 6".

A yellow/gold Dutch Iris watercolor is another painting from my archives of simple and elegant watercolor paintings. I love the blue/violet background wash supporting the yellow iris blooms. It's painted on heavy 300# Arches watercolor paper.

Autumn Leaves

Maple Tree Still Life Fall Botanical

10" x 8" Watercolor on 140 lb. Arches watercolor paper.

I posted this watercolor last fall and here it is again. These Red Maple leaves had dropped the day before I painted them. I arranged them on some white paper for a still life. They were curling slightly and I loved painting their delicate shapes and shadows.

Orange Marigolds

Fall Garden Flowers Still Life Botanical Floral

Oil on stretched canvas, 8" x 10" x 3/4"

I painted these orange Marigolds with yellow centers before the much cooler nights shrunk their bushy heads of gold. Now they are about to be replaced by Pansies and Snapdragons in my flowerbeds. I lit a snippet of them from above in a little bud vase to paint them and now they'll be bright and cheerful forever. Ahhh, the pure magic of painting! This painting can be hung unframed if desired because the 3/4-inch staple-free sides of the canvas will be painted.

Bart

Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog Oil Painting Pet Art Portraits

Oil on stretched canvas, 9" x 12" x 3/4".

This Australian Shepherd mix was interesting to paint because of his color combinations and his wonderful expression. Bart's owner explained that he often had this slightly scared look that was quirky and charming too. I believe it will be a well-received gift to one of his greatest admirers.

Sphinx

Oil Painting Tuxedo Cat Pet Art Portraits

Oil on Raymar panel, 6" x 8".

This painting of my cat, Chloe, is at least a little bit spooky. I say that because I've always thought that her mask-like markings are kinda creepy with that perpetual, forced smiled on her face. In fact, I realize I don't appreciate masks in general and this began at a very early age (clowns?) As it pertains to Chloe - her smiling expression is misleading; she's not a love-bug most of the time.

Curious Jack

Oil Painting Donkey Horse Pet Art Farm Animal Western

"Curious Jack"

Oil on Raymar panel, 12 x 10".

Awhile back I painted a pair of paintings that had each donkey peering over a rock wall and I called one a curious Jack and the other a curious Jenny. I really enjoy painting these beautiful long-eared animals.
