What's That?

Oil Dog Pet Art Portraits Pug

Oil on stretched canvas, 10" x 8" x 3/4".

I painted this from an older photo of my pug, Mabel, when she was much younger and her tongue protruded only a little bit (it's much longer now). She had this wonderfully quizzical, wall-eyed expression when you got her attention and this look is typical of a young Pug and I've always wanted to capture it in paint. The sides of the painting are painted making it ready to hang unframed if desired.

I really like the muted colors that you used in this piece. And yes, I can really see this look on a pug any day, you captured it really well. Keep on posting!

Thanks, Suz and Lina! Pugs are so much fun to paint with their flat faces, bulgey eyes and earnest expressions!
