Blushing Green Apple

Oil Painting Still Life Apples Fruit Art

Oil on canvas, 5" x 5" x 1.5".

This time I painted a single green apple on a square canvas which felt like a good fit to me. The interesting parts were defining the roundness of the apple and working with the complimentary colors of the apple and background.  Edges were important too.  I'm becoming more aware of working with edges that are lost to the background and others that are clearly defined.

Blushing Apples is beautiful. I love the bottom left where the warm colors contrast the cool shadows. There is also a calming atmosphere with a nice motion with your brush strokes.
