Hollyhocks Watercolor Daily Painting Flowers Still Life

"Double Hollyhocks"

Watercolor on Arches, 10" x 8 1/4".

A tall stock of blooming hollyhocks was my subject and this time I used many layers of translucent watercolors to form the shapes of the blooms and buds. Hollyhocks are an old-fashioned flower and are very easy to grow and hardy too. I take photos of them all summer and into the fall. They're already trying to grow again and can't wait for spring!
Thanks for visiting.
